It’s Financial Awareness Month

Did you know that there is a shortage of estate plans? Over 120 million Americans do not have an up-to-date estate plan to protect themselves and their families; that’s about ½ your friends and neighbors, half your employees and business associates, or about 200,000 adults within Sonoma County, making estate planning one of the most overlooked areas of sound personal financial management?

Financial and estate planning is not just for the wealthy it’s important for everyone. With advance planning, issues such as guardianship of children, managing bill paying and assets in the event of sickness or disability, care of a special needs child, long-term care needs, distribution of retirement assets, and charity gifts, bequests, and legacies can all be handled with sensitivity, care, and at a reasonable cost.

To help further address this huge social challenge we are working with our strategic partners at The Financial Awareness Foundation, and many other concerned individuals and organizations to help improve financial awareness and financial literacy by promoting the 6th anniversary National Estate Planning Awareness Week, October 20 – 26th.

To help protect you and your family here’s a link to a very important article on putting together your estate plan by The Financial Awareness Foundation

Additionally throughout National Estate Planning Awareness Week there are many local estate and financial seminars and workshops planned including several free national public webinars for the general public and financial service professionals. Once you register you can attend these presentation live or access them at your leisure (on demand) on your preferred digital device.
